Itinerary Overview
Whitewater River Rafting
Did you know? The Broughton Log Flume was the last operating log flume in the country? Portions of the original nine-mile flume can be viewed from Highway 14 in east Skamania County in the heart of the Columbia River Gorge.
#1, #2, #3 | Ready to get your blood pumping? The Gorge region offers countless adrenaline-pumping activities, and a great way to start is by renting kayaks or stand-up paddleboards from Otter & Osprey Outdoor Gear for a wild afternoon on the Columbia River. After your adventure, refuel with a hearty meal at Clark & Lewie’s Travelers Rest Saloon & Grill, conveniently located on the waterfront in Stevenson, WA. Extend your thrills by staying the weekend at the Wilder and Pine Riverside Cabins on the Stevenson shoreline, making it your headquarters for this exciting getaway!
#4, #5 | The Cabin Drive Thru will get day two started off right with a hot breakfast and a latte before you head off to the community of BZ Corner. This is where you find several white water rafting companies to choose from, to take thrill seekers on an exhilarating ride down the White Salmon River and over Husum Falls (a class 5 rapid!) This river moves fast and there are plenty of fun rapids which means there aren’t long slow sections – perfect for truly adventurous at heart! On your way back to Stevenson, stop by Backwoods Brewing Company in Carson for a delicious slice of pizza and one of their craft brews.
#6, #7, #8, #9, #10 | On day three, get started with a hike up Wind Mountain in Home Valley and enjoy the spectacular Gorge view from the top! Then back to Stevenson to enjoy lunch and an award winning craft brew in the outdoor garden patio at Walking Man Brewing. Finally, enjoy one last rush of adrenaline at Skamania Lodge Adventures. Experience a one-of-a-kind thrill as you zipline through the rain forest canopy. The tour includes seven different lines, the longest one being over 900 feet in length, 3 sky bridges, an auto-belay and some light trail walking. After your time in the sky, head into the Skamania Lodge resort for dinner at the Cascade Dining Room to enjoy incredible food, wines and views.
